#46: The Calorie Myth & Thoughts On CrossFit

This is episode 46 of Evil Sugar Radio. In this episode, we talk about the myth that calories don’t matter, an unfortunately common myth in the world of low-carbers. Keep in mind, calories do count! If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. It’s not magic.

Then we have a short segment on the pros and cons of CrossFit.

As always, if you’re enjoying the show, please rate us in iTunes.

  5. Here’s a good podcast with Matt on it – http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/the-llvlc-show-episode-824-why-matt-fitzgerald-describes-paleo-and-low-carb-diets-as-cults/22827

You guys got to get him on your show.

Thanks for always making me laugh and think.

BTW – had rice the other day for lunch and not dinner and DIDN’T WANT TO KILL MYSELF AFTER. Must be the influence of your show! LOL!

    • Thanks for the link, Jack. I stopped listening to Jimmy sometime last year, because I think he’s completely full of shit.

Unfortunately, I made it about halfway through his interview with Matt Fitzgerald, before I had to delete it.

I can’t listen to him continue to tell people “Find the diet that works for you,” when he’s obese, eating entire sticks of Kerrygold butter with a meal (claiming butter is “gathered”–as in hunting and gathering), has a terrible LDL-P number and ignores the advice of Dr. Dayspring (who was featured in Jimmy’s ‘Cholesterol Clarity’ book) to lower his saturated fat intake, and sells low-carb junk food on his blog.

There’s so much wrong with him and his blog.

  6. Porky – LOL!

Anyway, you wanted to you all to get a taste of Matt’s message.

    • Hey, Jack!

Later in the day, I went back and finished the podcast. I just skipped Jimmy’s low-carb junk food commercials and tried to unclench my sphincter. (Tough to do, when listening to Jimmy.)

Matt made some excellent points — several of which I experienced myself in the Paleo/Low-Carb arenas. It was that brain damage that led me to Matt Stone and then to Evil Sugar Radio.

      Take care,

      Porky 🙂

  7. Glad you finish the podcast,. Porky. I had a feeling that many fans of evil radio will like Matts’s message.

I just got Matt’s book and find it very entertaining as well.

  8. Biff Sterling says:

    Hey, Scott and Antonio:

Here’s a guy you should consider trolling:

He’s a “former FDA Special Agent” (and tries to mention that every time he can). He seems to allude that no one can be trusted — except him, of course. He has a strong “BS meter” and “sees things no one else sees.”

Hmmm, that sounds like guru language.

He’s another low-carber. No legumes, grains, dairy, or citrus (the low-carbers continue to get more bizarre)…but, apparently, making CHOCOLATE is okay…you know, like they used to do back in prehistoric times.

Not everyone is middle-to-upper income and can afford to turn-up their noses at the “inferior” diets of native cultures…who, by the way, have been thriving for thousands of years on corn, potatoes, grains, legumes, etc…and are thin, healthy, and not orthorexic.

Oh, this guy also sells supplements. Not because he wants to make money, of course, but because he has the “trusted” sources we need. What a lifesaver.

Gotta close for now, so I can drive my gas-guzzling Escalade over to Whole Foods for some paleo-approved almond flour, then to Trader Joe’s for some paleo-approved organic cacao (from the depths of the Amazon rainforest and exported on the backs of grass-fed mules and flown to the U.S.), and then back to my suburban McCave-Mansion to make “paleo” brownies for tonight’s movie on my primal 75-inch HDTV with 5.1 surround sound. By streaming tonight’s National Geographic documentary, $1 of my purchase price gets me a carbon credit to reduce my environmental footprint. Just doing my part to save the planet.

    Take care,
